On our trip up north, we came across this winery, now a very good friend is a Bliss, turns out that unlike Kabaker – not all Bliss’ are related. But how could we not buy a bottle of this wine?
I got home, called Juli and made a deal – you cook dinner, we’ll bring the wine. She thought that was a fine idea.
But one can’t present a naked bottle of wine, and those paper wine bags are boring. Time to get creative. I had seen a quilted wine bottle holder on Pinterest, but of course I had to make it my own.Of course I have to mix up the placement of the solid blue on the flying geese.I also found an interesting method of making the flying geese that gives a three dimensional effect. Wouldn’t do this on a quilt where I’d be quilting down the geese, but it is fun for a wine carrier.
At the winery I saw some wine sweaters, the saleswoman made them herself and told me she found the instructions on the internet. I love searching the internet. Sure enough I found the pattern she used. (there are many of them out there).
Remember the project where I had to fix the cable? Here it is! I was able to use up a few more of those one of a kind buttons as well.Yup, nice warm and cozy. So which of the two did I decide to use? I chilled the wine at home so we could drink it immediately. both covers are insulators, so it just came down to my own preference.I went with the sweater. Which means that someone else will get the flying geese one of these day.
Wine, dinner and watching the blood moon were all a hit.

lovely! the unattached flying geese are super cool.
i presented a bottle of wine in a “sock monkey” sock the other day, complete with button eyes. i bought the sock (the shame) but it was so cute, someone really should start making them as wine carriers…
Don’t look at me to manufacture them! Btw, sock monkeys are always made from a manufactured sock, no one knits up the sock themselves first, well if someone does, it’s not me!
