Mammoth is the ski destination of Southern California (Northern Californians go to Lake Tahoe). But to my mind, Mammoth is so much better in the summer. 
The majestic crags of the Eastern High Sierras.
The crystal clear mountain lakes.
Where the color is strong and the contrasts sharp.
The mirror smooth surface of the water.
Summer brings a meadow full of flower.
With flowing grasses.
And busy bees.
