Memorial Day Weekend

LA county is still not allowing small businesses or restaurants to operate. but the neighboring Ventura and Orange County are. So it was time for a day trip.

So off we went to Moorpark to the Underwood Family Farms. They have a much larger farm out in Somis, but at this location, they do a lot of education and activities. I heard from a friend that she took her family the week before to go strawberry picking. I guess when you are a big outdoor farm, people can come even during a lockdown and boy did people come!

Aytan was good, initially wearing his mask. We took a tractor ride out to the fields, where were set free!

Picking strawberries, you can see a few others, there actually were tons of people, scattered out in the fields.

We had a lot of fun. picked some arugula and lettuce as well. The strawberries were delicious, so much better than anything I find at the market. Both Aytan and Shira really enjoyed our outing, so that was a very successful day.

On Sunday we drove up to Ojai. I’m sure the beaches were very crowded. Probably a few less people up in the mountains, but plenty of people out and about. Funny how fuzzy these bikers are, there were tons of bikers out! Filling up a cantina out of town as well as just being on the roads.

We ordered food, sat at a table outside and had piping hot food served to us! Heaven! One of these years I won’t have to travel 60 miles for this pleasure. I got a veggie eggs Benedict, best ever!

I think I took this picture just 5 minutes after getting the food… No not really, I savored each bite.

Adorable signs and yes, the honey store was open.

Happy customer.

Sorry, these are fuzzy, when a guy with a bald eagle full head mask walks by, you just got to grab your camera. Well I do. I do wonder why he has sunglass up there? Is he some kind of hipster eagle?

To be continued….
