Iris

Last year, I went to a cactus and succulent show. I picked up a few ‘unusual’ plants for my son in law. There was a booth hosted by the local Iris society. so I went ahead and bought three plants. I planted them, and oy, my mow and blow guy weed wacked two of them out of existence.

About 10 days ago this started happening. I didn’t remember the colors I chose, I know that it must have been unusual colors. I do have one or two standard purple ones.

A few days later, and this is happening. So it is going to be a very dark flower.

Boom! Today look what happened, two flowers have bloomed.

The color here is much ore accurate, more of a deep Burgundy, not a blue purple. Btw, if this is enough for you, no need to look further. I couldn’t stop taking pictures.

Yes, I’m using my macro lens and boy am I loving what I see here, look at those caterpillars. I’m sure there is another name for them, like maybe stamens? To me, they are caterpillars.

Since the flowers won’t last long, I’ve been taking pictures.

And now, extreme closeups.

Oh, the beauty of nature.

In these days of lockdown, finding this beauty in my yard and playing with my macro lens, finding local beauty in my own yard is exciting. No, I’m not staying locked up in my home, I have been getting out and about, walking, going down to the beach where one of my sons lives. And yet, boy have I loved following this Iris. I have a few more scattered throughout my yard. Even if it is a standard purple flower, I will be enjoying them as well and will be sharing them here.
