Dying my hair

I know how hard hit are the small businesses that can’t ‘go online’. How do you go online for a haircut?? So when my haircut and color appt. got canceled early on in this lockdown. I still sent my hairdresser money. This is her only income.

That was three weeks ago, a lot of grey is showing and I am not willing to go grey yet. Yup, I’m vain.

So last week Diane sent out word that she would be happy to ship us kits for touching up our roots. Of course I signed on. It took a while for her to get the kits together. This week they arrived.

No one time use robes. So Diane suggested, and I followed through with using a large garbage bag. Hey, whatever works right?

From this angle my hair doesn’t look so bad!

Putting on the product. Diane sent a bowl and a brush. For me it’s not that hard, I’m used to working with my hands, I can reach all the way to the back of my head without a problem.

Waiting the 40 minutes for it to set, yup, I got some on my face, luckily, it washed off.

Success!! looking good from the back

…and from the front. I pulled the dye all the way through, as it fades, it fades red, which to be honest isn’t as good a look on me as it was 15 years ago.

I haven’t even tried to trim my bangs. A good haircut, it is still looking good. Boy will I be happy to get that professional cut again. Meanwhile, my nails are a mess. All I have at home are some real bright polishes, next time at the drug store I will get some nice neutral, and don’t tell me it’s non essential. I lived under socialism once, I really don’t want to go back to that.

Shira spent the night. She helped cook dinner. We made an amazing Matzo brie, she chopped up a lot of vegetables. I had to do the onion, it made her cry. Here she is breaking the eggs. I am so grateful that her mom is teaching both her and her brother how to cook. It is so important.

Then, together we made this bag. Look at the lovely furry band. Yes, she loves it.

I don’t know why my camera wasn’t focusing. It better not be broken. Turns out Mary Lennox fits in here perfectly.
